About Dynatect (formerly A&A Manufacturing)

The name comes from the words ‘dynamic’ and ‘protection’ because it is the accumulation of over 70 years of experience producing flexible protection for equipment in motion.

Dynatect Manufacturing, formerly known as A&A Manufacturing, has over 65 years of experience in dynamic equipment protection manufacturing.

Over 70 years ago, when founder Gerald “Doc” O’Rourke saw that neighborhood kids needed footballs and basketballs, he started a basement operation to provide them. After introducing a line of sewn leather industrial bellows, Dynatect began designing and manufacturing components used in virtually all types of equipment and machinery. Company History

  • Founded in 1945, A&A Manufacturing Company got its start by specializing in the development of products using synthetic coated fabrics.

  • In 1949 the company's focus shifted to the development of flexible protective covers for the machine tool industry. With this manufacturing shift, new products were developed using elastomer-coated fabrics, evolving into today's highly recognized line of dependable Gortite protective covers.

  • Metal protective machine covers were added in 1967 which brought about the introduction of two new brands; Steelflex® metal walk-on way covers and Telaflex® metal telescoping way covers.

  • The Gortite line later expanded to include Lasertube® metal telescoping tubes for use with laser beams and a variety of custom and stock way wipers and wiper blades.

  • In 1970, the Gortrac division was founded in New Berlin, Wisconsin, home to A&A Manufacturing Company, Inc. corporate headquarters. This decade marked the development of the first steel products and custom engineered cable and hose carrier systems.

  • Multi-axis face shields and bellows for articulated buses and light rail vehicles were developed in 1973.

  • A new 75,000 square foot manufacturing facility was opened in 1998 in Valparaiso, IN. This world class manufacturing facility was built to meet the growing demands of our diverse customer base for our cable and hose carrier products in existing and new markets.

  • In August 2000 Gortite introduced The Gortite Roll Up Door for fire and emergency vehicles.

  • April 30, 2002, A&A Manufacturing purchased Milwaukee Protective Covers. The acquisition expanded the product line to include Thermic-Weld® Covers, ATD Actuator® Machine Door Openers, and Safety Curtains for Welding Cells.
